About Wellspring
The WHLC came about as part of the ten-year New Deal for Communities (NDC) regeneration programme in Barton Hill, Lawrence Hill, Redfield and the Dings and was funded by Community at Heart, the organisation set-up to oversee the programme. Local residents were keen to see health services in the area improve and they formed an action group called Healthy Places Happy People (HPHP). This group became the driving force behind the £3.5 million WHLC project. The residents’ vision was clear; to design and build a centre that local people could be proud of which would provide up-to-date facilities for doctors and health care staff, alongside other additional health and wellbeing services.
